At Eagleson Funeral Home, we offer several types of funeral service. Before you choose, it may help to think about why funerals matter. Saying goodbye to someone you love brings a tremendous change for you and your family. Taking time to consider how to say goodbye can make a difference when the time comes.
A funeral is an important opportunity to pay tribute to someone you have loved. It is a time for relatives and friends to gather, share memories, tell stories, and support one another. Funerals are for the living, which is why it is important to say goodbye in a way that feels comfortable for your family.
Funerals can be personal. They do not have to be formal affairs with standard music and a service conducted by someone the family does not know. A funeral can be a celebration of life.
Before choosing a service, consider the needs of each family member and the options available. Some families find a viewing helpful as they begin the healing process. A service with the body present can offer a focal point for mourners and help them acknowledge the reality of death.

Traditional Funeral Service
A traditional funeral service is held with your loved one present. Visitation is generally held the evening before, followed by a service the next day in the chapel of the funeral home, a church, or another location chosen by the family. A service may include scripture readings, prayers, a eulogy and music. A procession and committal may follow, with a reception for family and friends.
Memorial Service
A memorial service is held when the deceased is not present. It may take place at the funeral home, a family residence, an eldercare centre, a church or outdoors. It offers family and friends time to remember a loved one and can be held before or after burial or cremation.
Committal Service
A committal service is a brief gathering at the gravesite after a traditional funeral service and before burial. Family and friends may say their final goodbyes at the resting place. Eagleson Funeral Home can also arrange a traditional funeral service followed by cremation. Cremation does not prevent a family from having visitation, a funeral service or a committal.
Direct Disposition
Direct cremation is arranged without a funeral ceremony. Your loved one is cared for at the funeral home while the necessary paperwork and permits are completed, then transferred to the crematorium. Following cremation, the remains are placed in an urn and are ready to be buried, placed in a niche or taken home. Direct burial does not include a funeral service; after the required paperwork is complete, your loved one is prepared and taken to the cemetery for burial.
